SEIU FPSU Faculty Forward members congratulate their colleagues with the United Faculty of Florida on the Public Employees Relations Commission decision ordering Florida Polytechnic University to reinstate illegally fired workers. Below is a statement from Angela Edwards-Luckett, a Faculty Forward member and adjunct professor of world religions at St. Petersburg College.
“We applaud the strength of our colleagues with United Faculty of Florida and thank them for standing up for all of our fundamental right to a union. At a time when our state has gutted funding for colleges and universities, it is more important now than ever that the faculty – whether professional or support staff, adjunct professors or full-time professors – have a voice in how our schools run. Uniting in unions gives us a powerful say on key issues and is the only way to fix our broken higher education system.”
